Before the poll

There has been some talk about the name of the new CoV supergroup. With the previous name Sin Inc. and other names being tossed around. I would like to get some ideas for names for the SG and then I will place up a poll for us to vote on the SG name. Any ideas are welcome and please keep the comments about other peoples SG names friendly

Some of the issues that I would like people to think about are how many groups will have names similar to our name and will our SG seem like one of the myriad of groups that are out there?

 I plan on placing the poll for the SG name up Wednesday morning and I will close the poll Friday night.

I suggest....   Nihilistic Firearms.

This would be great for a tech based SG, (both tech base and tech origins) and has a good feeling of apathetic villiany. The idea for the SG name comes from an old Cyberpunk game that I ran where the team (who were less than good people) created a black ops group and named it Nihilistic Firearms. Variations on this could be Nihilistic Domination, or something similar. The problems with this name that I can see, are that the name lends to teach and natural origins, but I don't think that it would exclude anything outright.

I don't have a particular name to suggest, but I agree with J's comment last night that an "Inc." name will be widely duplicated in various variations.

Given our Seven Deadly Sins leaning, I do like Sin (something here).  Or even S.I.N.  Inc is rather overdone, but LLC just sounds so silly!  (Sin LLC?!)  But, in the end, I'm pretty laid back about this.

Also remember that although "the Sins" will be apart of the VG does not necessarily mean they're the head honchos. 

Name toss ups for me are:

Open Eye or Path of the Closed Fist  (These two make a good, Dojo of Evil sounding name)
Iniquity or Iniquite Enterprises (In case no one knows.  Iniquity means 1. Gross immorality or injustice; wickedness. 2.  A grossly immoral act; a sin.)

I personally like the latter if we want to go with the evil corporation.

I'm not really much of a fan of the whole '7 deadly sins' concept.  Partially just because I've seen a ton of 'SinDeathKillerPwner' type names floating around.  Partially because I'm not sure how having sub-alts would 'fit in' with the concept.  Partially because it sounds like a Nevada based amaamateurrn company. Partially because I know we have more than 7 people that play and all would like to get a 'member' name.

I realize everyone has now got their hearts and name slots held aside for this, but I figured I'd toss out an idea I had.  Feel free to shoot me down, but figured it might be a bit more off the beaten path, and had a couple of neat other benefits.

I'm proposing a Tarot themed VG, for the following reasons:

• That would allow for 22 'Major Arcana' names.  We could keep with the whole 'Mr. XXXXX' theme, so you'd get 'Mr. Tower', 'Ms. Emporess', 'Dr. Fool', etc.
• Since there are 5 ranks in the VG, we could go with 'Major', 'Sword', 'Cup', 'Rod', and 'Coin' to represent the various levels of membership.
• VGs have a capacity for about 75 members, there are 78 cards - sounds like a close enough match for me.
• Let's say the primaries are the Major Arcana, we could make alt teams all of the same 'suit' for break out bunches.
• It's a well known fact that the Knight of Rods also means 'Oni no Jay'.  Okay, maybe not, but since everything is reasonably open to interpretation, every alt concept can fit in easily.

If no one likes this idea, and wants to keep the Sin thing, I'd favor 'Sin for Hire' over 'Sin, Inc.'. If folks like this concept, I'd put forth something like 'The Hand of Fate' for the name.

Anyway, that's just my thoughts for right now.

I like evil corporation themes, like Sin Incorporated or SIN Corp.  I also like "Wages of Sin".

If we don't go with a sin theme, I like Ministries.  It's a 1984 thing.

Ah, but that's what's great baout this.  We won't actually HAVE "sin" in our names.    We're the more literate version of those players.

Someone mentioned it earlier.  I see the Seven Deadly Sins as maybe the heads or main party in the overall villain group, but they are by no means the only group.

Your Tarot themed villains could be another party in the overall villain group.  There's so much flexibility to be had!

Oooooh ... I do like Ministry of Sin.  I *really* like that.  Very British.

Beyond that, S.I.N. Corp sounds awesome, too.

The Ministries actaully sound like we could use them as VG level names.

Ministry of Sin - The 7 - Ringleader
Ministry of Propaganda - Taskmaster
Ministry of War - Enforcer
Ministry of Hate - Flunky

If we wanted to get away from the whole sinning thing, we honestly don't need a themed group.  The Villain Society, Sinister Six, Injustice League, Legion of Doom.  All good Villain Groups.  No real themes to them.  The main villains I plan on playing the most are Steel Widow, Optimus Crime and Malefiecent so whatever VG they'll look good in is the one I'll vote for.

Yup I think that so far thats what were looking at. Although I would like a better name then Tarot. Something more groupish Like what Chip was suggesting  "Hand of Fate"

Cause the first thing I think of when I think evil is Faith from Buffy the Vampire Slayer and she usually said that followed by killing something.  Which I'm not sure why she said that, but it just sounds cool.

Hand of Fate makes me think of Manos: the Hands of Fate, which is definately evil, but perhaps not the evil we were looking for.
