Hey we could be "The N00bs."  Heh, OK maybe not.  So it seems ilke we don't really have a scrapper and I'm sure Bill is much better than me at tanking so I made a katana / scrapper named "Touche" and got him up to 4th level in a fit of needing a distraction last night.  But he's MAGIC origin and looks pretty funky, so I can del him and recreate with proper colors (or just enter "supergroup mode" whenever) and/or del him and recreate with proper origin.

So when we thinking of doing this eh?  Tomorrow?  Next Monday?  Or maybe we should all just break up instead?

Uhh, sorry.  Tongue

I don't have to play a tanker, so if someone is interested in that role by all means seize the day.

Since I don't experiment as much as some other people in this team (*cough*) I'm not sure what role I will want to take.  Probably some kind of REMF.

Well I like the idea of my katana-scrapper "Touche" - but tanking still sounds like fun too, I'm kewl with either, anyone else?  Anyone actually wanna suggest when we start?  Mondays?  7-10?  Huhuhuh?  Smiley

Uhhh, again "Derrick Heyoka" is also me (the login here) - but looks like that login'll prolly be less useful these days so expect me to post as Derrick, or Shmoo.  ;P

Hi all, this be Sean

Mondays are out (currently - schedule might change) for me - Thursdays are the best of the non-weekend days for me, if they're doable for anyone else.

If we're going to take a team long term, we might want to think about all being of the same origion - that way we can all hunt the same type of baddies to get the same type of DO/SO enhances and share them.

I think I can swing anything but a tanker Smiley - however I'd prefer going either Controller or Defender.  We'll probably need to have a few straight up damage dealers, and I don't mind doing that either if others want those roles.

See ya online.

I run a PNP game on Thursdays that several teammates are in - so Thursdays are bad.  Any other day work for you?

I'm getting kinda concerned about scrappers being useless and I wanna find out for myself how I feel about the scrappers are the dumb-man's blaster debate.

So I'm doing a katana / super reflexes (I think) - scrapper.  Smiley  Uhhh, Thursdays are out yeah, I could do Mondays or Wednesdays.  Tuesdays for me are bi-weeklyish bad (evening work mtg) - although maybe that won't be true soon.  Fridays are, well, Fridays.

So (Sorry Sean) I vote M or W evenings.  Smiley

What origin?  What level should we hook up at?  I say we pick *two* origins to choose from maybe (like mutant, or technology) - that way if someone doesn't wanna gun they don't need one, and if someone wants to look totally whack they can.  Anyway so I say we do level 8, 9, or 10 solo and then be ready and hook up yo.  Smiley

So far, to verify we have:

Me - MC/FF Controller

Shmoo - Katana/SR Scrapper (BTW - good luck with SR - I have found that I die alot - lot of people bitch on the threads, too)

Sean - Controller or Defender

Bill - Tanker

Lee - Don't know yet - I thought Defendie, but I checked and you haven't posted what you want to play yet

I would think we would want 8 ppl - I can invite Chris Greenlee, Dave and Marc B. to join us - also is someone going to bug Noonan into buying the game?

In terms of holes, I see healing and damage output as our big ones right now.  I would say we want another Blaster or Scrapper at the minimum and 2 healers would probably be a good idea (although if both people that are considering *maybe* defender played them we would be fine there).  As a controller I am planning to go Mez heavy - which doesn't work so hot if someone decides to play an AE heavy Blaster like Fire or Ice, but works fine if they go Energy, Elec or AR instead.

If we need me too, I am also cool with switching to Blaster.

If it's a fit, I started a magic defender (radiation/dark blast) last night; level 3 at the moment.  The stacking accuracy debuffs seem to work very nicely.

If I don't play a Tanker, who will?  I've started a blaster recently and I also have a defender.

I don't think i'll ever try Controllers, but I might go with a blaster for the team if someone else takes the Tanker role.

Well, I was checking out the character planner, and it sounds like the Tanker Invulnerability power set is pretty nice.

I can't bring myself to care about the Fire or Cold set.  If no one else wants it, I'll take the Tanker role in this team.

I really wanna play a Tanker - I do - but I really do hate 'em.

Question: do we need a tanker?  If we have a couple of controllers that might work just as well.

Currently, here is our roster:

Chris G. - Defender

Shmoo - Scrapper

Bill - Blaster or Defender

Sean - Controller or Defender

Lee - Defender (I think?)

Me - Controller or Blaster

Noonan - no idea

So that is 1 Scrapper, 0-2 Blasters, 0-2 Controllers, 2-4 Defenders.  Here are my recommendations (feel free to tell me to stick em): 1) Bill goes Blaster; 2) Sean goes Controller; 3) Noonan goes Scrapper, Tanker, Controller or Blaster; 4) if Noonan goes Tanker or Controller, I go Blaster, if the other two I go Controller.  That gives us 3 Scrapper/Blasters, 2 Controller/Tankers, 2 Defenders.  Pretty good mix.

We don't *need* a tanker no, but really we could manage to squeak by without a blaster if we really tried, so ppl should just play what they'll look forward to when they're at work on Mondays... Wink

Besides, I'm pretty sure that taunt powers work much more often on bosses then say hold powers.  So later as the game gets tougher (or we start fighting two bosses at once at the end of door missions at level 15 or so) - it'll likely help a lot if someone can keep both bosses off our blasters / scrappers.

I dunno yo!  Smiley

I think the biggest plus that Controllers have over Tankers is that their control strategy does not involve getting the shit kicked out of them.

And it doesn't seem like anyone wants to play a Tanker at this point.  Both might be our best bet - but I think we'll do fine if no one wants to play one.

Well, the Inv. power set seems really nice for Tankers, so I'm not completely opposed to doing that.

I am kinda wondering about the 18 defenders we'll have.  I think Lee is going to go the empathy route.

Yo Larry!  Welcome to Otter's (not me) message boards for us, a wonderful game he doesn't play!  *grin*  Yeah so we're talking about a new group of chars we only play on Mondays (or whenever) at a specific time, just with this group - in case you hadn't noticed.  Wink

Well if we're going to play this Monday (something I'm beginning to doubt) we need to decide.  I can have my scrapper of lameosity up to 10 by Monday.  But he's already started, if we're scrapping magic origin lemme know yo.  Course if we don't decide we'll just have to not worry 'bout origins and run around wearing similar costumes.  Or something.  Wink

Meanwhile, Larry, go lookie the characters thread and add our names to your friends list.  Or just ping me (mainly:  anomalon & coalescence) when you're on next (or any of these peeps) and we'll get you into the SG.  Smiley

To be honest, I keep very few of you in my friends list.  I'd rather just check the Supergroup listing.
I add a couple people, and make sure that each character is in the SG, then I delete most of them.  There's simply too many people to keep track of now.

All right well we were trying to hash our team out, and came to the realization we didn't have a healer, or real controller really.  So since I never really got to play Anomalon with the group much, I said I'd just kinda remake him and play that instead of my katana scrapper.  But nothing's set in stone yet, so if someone else wants to be healer boy/ girl that's kewl too - I'm happy either way.  Smiley

So who's playing and any ideas on chars yet?  We only have seven so far, and last I checked we had scheduling issues with Sean and were just hoping Mark'd be ready 'n online by then?

Chris G. - Defender
Shmoo - Scrapper (?)
Bill B - Blaster
Lee A- Tanker
Brian H - Blaster
Sean C (?) - Controller or Defender?
Mark N (?) - no idea

Cool name.  Multiple Teleporters are never bad.  I don't recommend that many people take movement powers, as it would provide for less robust builds.  Taking Superleap with The Startling Groundhog has lead me down a path where my teammates sometimes die because I can't taunt enough aggro away from them. Blasters might want to take hover.  Upfront people might want to take combat jumping for the defense boost, but as long as we have a teleporter we shouldn't need superspeed, flight or superleaping.  The Magistrate could take teleport self and then pop people over to him when he reaches a destination.

You brought up the one exception to the no move rule thing - Blasters - and not just hover.  One of the reasons I love Flash Fry is the Superspeed that lets him kite and avoid combat like a freak - I would assume Flight for a blaster would be the same.  Superspeed is also nice because it doesn't have a hit debuff.  For FF I would have gotten Hasten anyway - so one extra power to be really mobile (even in the middle of fights) is really nice.  If I stick with Icepik (Ice/Ice Blaster) I might throw that into the build.  Course he would look really silly superspeeding, but anyhoo.

Multiple teleporters?  Well I figure if I'm the pansey healer I can spare a few powers on porting so other ppl don't have to waste levels on teleporting instead of precious new attack powers.  But if someone else is planning on porting (?) I can just do other stuff... ?  Smiley

Well The Magistrate is up to level 8, when we're ready he'll have healing aura, heal other, resurrect, teleport ally (or whatever it's called) - and something else not sure what.  Maybe that heal that cures you of holds 'n shit, or maybe leadership?  Or teleport foe?  I dunno.

I had to put two slots into his cone-area of effect KB attack, cuz if I'd *completely* neglected my attack powers I'da never gotten to level 10.  As it is, knowing I won't solo past 10, I'm putting 6 of my 8 odd-level enhancement slots into my non-attack powers.  I also prolly won't buy more attack powers I s'pose, no time soon anyway.  It's weird trying to solo a char up to 10 who's mostly a group-needing pussy, heh... Smiley

So anyway, who's gonna start the new group?  Not me!  What the hell are our origins?  The Mag looks kinda freaky, worst comes to worst I can just change his appearance a bit later when the patch comes out if you wanna make me.  >Wink  He's magic origin, cuz, well, cuz.  Tongue    Smiley

I think we wanted to keep to two origins - I am fine with Magic and Tech.

Our current breakdown groupwise is (as I understand it):

Chris G. - Rad/Dark Defender
Shmoo - Empathy/Energy Defender
Bill B - Fire/? Blaster
Lee A- ?/? Tanker
Mark N (?) - Scrapper

I am still on the fence as to what to play (big surprise).  I was originally going to play a Blaster - but I feel like a real cheese-monkey playing two blasters and nothing else for my chars.  I am not totally comfy with only have two damage classes in a 6 player team - and another speed bump might be nice if no controller - so maybe I will join Noonan in that division (if so I think I will play a Dark/Dark Scrapper with heavy Stealth skills - maybe Phase when I hit lvl 20).  That gives us three damagers, 3 Melees, no controllers, and as much ranged firepower as a pair of blasters (defenders probly count like 2/3s but close enough).

I know we have our mass movement guy already, and I am thinking I may play stealthy dude, any ideas on other support roles - like maybe leadership?

Lee's tanker has Invuln for the primary, since it's so cool.

My blaster's 2ndary is Energy, so I get aim and buildup way early.

Hi Guys,

Noticed that the current line up doesn't have a controller. Should we have one in the group?  The character I am playing right now is a 6'th level dark/regen scrapper, he seems like a good enuff solo character but he doesn't really do anything for the group. He just fights monsters and tries to stay alive while doing so.

I wouldn't mind starting a controller if the group needs one,  if we do and people have ideas for a controller combination that would complement the group, lemme know.

Kay - now we have:

Chris G. - Rad/Dark Defender
Shmoo - Empathy/Energy Defender
Bill B - Fire/? Blaster
Lee A- ?/? Tanker
Mark N (?) - Controller

Now I am almost definitely going to end up with a Scrapper for increased damage and speed bumping purposes.  I have a build I want to try that is Dark/SR (I am hoping the Dark Debuff combined with SR's defense increase will make the SR work - not totally original - I have seen some boards that mention it).  You bastards had better keep your defender juju aimed my way - cause I'm gonna die a lot.  :-)

OK - so my char for the game is:

My Shadow - lvl 6 (now) Magic Scrapper Dark Melee/Super Ref

On test runs so far, he hasn't been quite as glass jaw as I was thinking, I just have to be careful and play smart.  So far I have only died once in his illustrious career - and that was because I was being very reckless (6 person, mixed yellow/orange mob).

So, basically, he is very bad at crowd control and very good at boss assassaination.  Usually I get wasted for the first time in any of my char's careers fighting my first even level boss in our mission, be they Damned or Bone Daddy (and maybe a couple of times if they are a Bone Daddy).  In this case, I got surprised by a Damned, went toe-to-toe with him and gacked him before taking even half my health bar - and he had a helper.

The acc debuff combined with def buff concept seems to be working, but only kinda.  Basically the acc debuffs fade so fast that they only lock a char down if I focus on them - which makes beating the tar out of Lt's and Bosses easy, but makes beating on lots of mobs very hard.  Combine that with how straight out lethal Dark Melee is, and presto - you have a Boss killer.

So, yeah, I am thinking my team niche will be founded in Stealthing (and I plan to get Invis at 14) into a decent position, wait for someone else to start the fight - then bum rush the Boss and aggro and lock him down till he falls.  Lt's will work if no Bosses are available.

BTW - if you are an FF controller you will be my def buffing best friend!

Lee reminded me that I'll have all night Thursday and some of Friday night to play, so perhaps I can get Rheinhart up to snuff.

In another thread I'll post a tactics question.

BTW - general game time proposal - can we do all lvl-ing, enhance selling/buying, and contact management between games so that we can log in, run missions together and log out.  If we are all going to be playing 4 hrs a week, we should try to keep that as tightly to busting heads as possible - I hate the "everyone scatter and do shit" teaming.

Yeah, given that Lee and I usually can't run for more than 3 hours a day, I think this is a must.

I think that everyone should load up on missions before the designated session, that way the "team leader" can get everyone together, scan the board and get people moving quickly.

Is there anyone here besides me and Lee who doesn't have their "New Team" character up to 10?  If so, I will be on tonight to level Ansgar up.  If he hit's 10, I have Olaf availible to help other people level.

Why don't we pick a name for the Supergroup and then get everyone added to it now, rather than waiting until we're all online.

BTW, Ansgar is 7.8

I have only run into the Tsoo as mobs (all of the various animal kingdom enforcers) - but the only one of those that bug me as FF are the archers - those bitches have some range!  I have heardb that the Lts are much worse, however.

Well Joc is now making a bench warmer defender (empathy) chick for our Mondays.  Dunno her name yet, she'll get a login 'n shit.  But hey we always seem to be down at least one person.  Not to mention starting next Sunday I might be offline entirely for a week or two.

Sigh.  Smiley

Having missed last Monday, I hear you guys were like level 13.8 or so when you quit?  I need to know how far behind I am, it'll suck when you all hit 14 at 9pm and I'm nowhere near teleportation... grin.  Wink
