Pulp fiction books.  Yea or Nay?  I'm not creating this as a straight poll 'cos I want some discussion.

I recently read a great book called Gil's All Night Fright Dinner and loved it, but it's relatively short, and again, it's pulpy.

What are peoples thoughts on these sorts of books?

I've heard good things about that book.

I don't think everything we read has to be zomg so srs singularity brain hurty deep analyses of a Dark Future To Come.  Fun SF is good, too.

As long as the genre's right, I'd be down with something more pulpy too, sometimes. Smiley

Personally, I like pulpy novels, but I don't think we should go for too pulpy in book club, since we'll need to be able to sit and discuss the book for an hour or so, and we have two months to read it.  If it's total chaff I'll read it in a few hours and there won't be much worth remembering/talking about come dinner.
