The Girlie and I stayed at the Mandarin Oriental this last weekend for our anniversary - and did not actually eat at the restaurant inside (City-Zen) but did stop by and look at the menu - and read the reviews. Menu looked great, Zagat's gives it good ratings. What really struck us though - it has tasting menus (completely with pairings) for vegetarians as well as meatatarians - which I thought was rock-on. Might be worth a field trip...

Actually - April is really crumby for me. The Girlie is gone the weekend of 4/4 - 4/6, we are both out of town 4/11 - 4/13 and again on 4/18-4/20 and 4/25-4/27. How do you feel about weeknights? ;-)

Weeknights are much harder for us to get into the city. We live in Leesburg, remember?

March is no good -- Bill and Lee are in Taiwan, and when they're back, you're in San Diego.
So... sometime in May? Oh wait, you're going to be in Europe... June, anyone?

You should update your GCals, 4/4 and 4/18-20 are currently blank for y'all. 5/2-3 look open at the moment, if we were thinking May. If we're also considering Sundays, 3/30 looks good too.

5/2-3 could conflict w/ Cinco De Mayo or someones birthday.
Just throwing that out there.

Is marked on Lenore's private calendar. I am actually free on 4/4 - she is in TX at a friend's wedding stag. 4/18-4/20 is Passover - so no bread for the Girlie (which would make restaurants the suck) and we will probably schedule a Seder.

Bah, private calendar entries are totally useless to me. You should at least mark the time as busy.

Tried to post this previously - but encountered technical difficulties...
Probably no real point in trying to schedule around my crazyness - go ahead and enjoy in my absence - just make a point to post about how wonderful it is...

Curses! Foiled again! City Zen isn't open on Sundays or Mondays: Dinner: 6pm-9:30pm (Tuesday-Thursday) 5:30pm-9:30pm (Friday-Saturday)So, just looking at Fridays and Saturdays, the days we're all available look like: Friday February 15th Friday May 2nd My vote is for 2/15, because I am impatient.

My vote is for 2/15, because I am impatient. We are, in fact, bizarrely free that day. Are you sure it won't be too much right before going on a major vacation? If not, and they still have reservations, I'm game.

Is there a guestimate on how much this is going to cost? David and I would very much like to come, but the monies are a definite deciding factor.

Is there a guestimate on how much this is going to cost? David and I would very much like to come, but the monies are a definite deciding factor. Sorry, we made the reservations in March and didn't know you were seriously considering it. CityZen fills up very quickly, and we know you're watching your household budget and hadn't heard a definite yes on this thread, so we had to go with the people who had already made a firm commitment. Next time (and this goes for all the lurkers on this board; you know who you are!), if you're interested in going, please be explicit on the thread so that we don't miss you in the accounting. The restaurants we pick usually require one to two months advanced reservations, and they're usually very expensive (~ $150 - $200 per person, with alcohol, not including tax or tip), so we won't put you down for a reservation unless you've specifically said on the list that you are going. We would never make that assumption about your time or your money!
