When I am next in NC, I am going to get some moonshine. My grandfather knows a guy who sells it. I think he sells it by the pint, but I am not sure. Anyone else interested in trying it out?

You try it first.  If you're still alive, and you say it tastes good, then i'll give it a shot.

Oh, and if you're not blind.  Wink

BTW - I initially asked Rob to set this thing up so I could post my notes from the tastings - and so people could generally post notes on other boozes - though free talk and all that is righteous.  I am going to put up one post per and have people respond, and as I try new stuff, I will post that, too.

Sorry for being a bum-ling and not posting the notes from the last one yet - they are on my laptop and everything.  I will try and remember tonight.

Speaking of notes on other stuff: whatever bushmills is, it's not as smooth as laphroig OR oban.  Is it a blend?  I can't remember.

Well, Bushmill's is whiskey, not whisky, fwiw.

The one I have is from a three-variety-pack, and I don't remember which one.  Bushmill's Original is a blend of single malt Irish whiskey and Irish grain whiskey.  Some of the other kinds are whiskey and malt blends.

Bushmills is in Irish Whiskey - not a Scotch Whisky.  It is triple-distilled, and has a blended mashbill, though probably mostly malted barley (most Irish is).  I actually find most Irish Whiskey's to be very smooth and palatable - very clean tasting - which is as they are meant to be.  The triple-distillation removes impurities and the blending is meant to round out its character, and the Irish do not peat their Whiskey - so, theoretically Irish Whiskeys are meant to be far easier to drink, or have less taste depending on your preference.  The equivalent from the tasting was Knappogue Castle - the slightly lemony, light yellow, golden whiskey - but it is a single malt and is all malted barley - not a blend like Bushmills.  I tend to go Irish if I am looking to get ripped rather than sip - it goes down like water.  Bushmills is rougher then most Irish blends - and Black Bush (another Bushmills label) is rougher still - I think of Jameson as the better example of what I think an Irish Whiskey should taste like.

Then why did it suck some?  Maybe my taste buds were off that night.

Because it's not scotch.   Wink
