We haven't done one of these in a while and I'm not suggesting we do it during the Holidays, but perhaps late January or early Feb we might want to go to the Ruth's Chris in Fairfax?

I'd be up for it - me-likey a good steak - although, honestly, me-likey Capital Grille a bunch more - or Sam & Harry's or the Palm.  For some reason I never got as enthused by the big two - Morton's and Ruth's Chris (I was actually really disappointed in Morton's).

One issue though - not very veggie-friendly (and most of the big steakhousing aren't going to be) - they have one vegetarian option listed online on their menu under entrees (Grilled Portobello Mushrooms), although several other pescatarian (sp?) options - though almost all in the Shell-fish variety (lobster or crab).

I looked at M&S Grille in Reston (http://www.mccormickandschmicks.com/media/Sample%20Dinner%20Menu-M&S%20Grill.pdf) but it is not much better - a veggie-lover would probably have to strip out the meat in one of the pasta dishes, and honestly - even then - it probably isn't going to be great.

Palm is pretty much the best bet - http://www.thepalm.com/menu.cfm?menu_id=345 - steaks are tres yummy (my opinion - better then Ruth's Chris) - and they do have a pretty real veggie section (ok - all pasta - but I bet the Hearts of Palm salad is bad-ass), and a very strong pescatarian selection.  They also have prime-rib, which alot of the big houses don't, and that is my own yummy favorite even at $44.  BTW - the menu I linked to is DC - but there is one near Tysons 2 so it is even convenient.

I recommended Ruth's Chris because it's so close, it seems like a lot of people haven't gone to it, and it's still pretty darn good.  But I'm open to suggestions.  The Palm sounds good.... I've never been there and it sounds like a great place to try.  Capitol Grille was great, but we hit that just a few months ago.

The M&S Grille I'm not about to even consider for RezClub... it's someplace we often eat for lunch from work, and it's the same league as Clydes.  It's also got the same wonderful service that grown-up M&S does, which is to say, slow.   I'd have thought you'd have psychological scarring and all that from the last time we all ate there.  Smiley

A lot of people rag on Morton's, but it's good and it's got amazing desserts.  It's got chocolate souffle and hot chocolate cake, which are fantastic.  Might be going there one time later in the evening and just order the final course.

Maybe we can hit Ruth's Chris this time, and pick another place in a month or two and compare them.

I haven't been to most of the places listed below, and I would enjoy the opportunity to visit them.

I lurves grilled portobello.  I'd be happy to try Ruth's Chris or Palm.  Fridays in January seem remarkably free thus far...

Also, pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease don't feel constrained by my picky non-meat-eating habits.   It's totally okay if not everything is vege-friendly!  Smiley

Cool - I am definitely in.  Don't get me wrong - Ruth's Chris is still very much the yum - and if the veggie lovers are down, I would like nothing more then a lovely rare steak and a nice glass of port.  :-)

Me likey the M&S alot - but concur on it being more budget then normal for restaurant club - it fits into that wierd category of being a step up from casual dining and a step down from formal.  If ya ever just wanna go there, though - I am all about it - is one of my faves.

No.  Because I don't want to scroll down to read the new ones.

I'm thinking you and Liz have bleached some crucial message board interpreting portion of your brain.

I very much enjoy Ruth's Chris and thought it was comparable to all the other steak places around. If you don't go in January I would love to join you and I am sure I can convince Kris to go since she likes steak.

Yes, according to Google Calendar, it's on 4100 Monument Corner Drive in Fairfax, which should in the same area where Cinema De Luxe is.

Yay!
